Frequently Asked Questions

How is the ATS current rating selected?
It is selected from the actual load current, continuous-duty requirements, fault level, switching device, conductor arrangement, and applicable project rules.
What is the difference between open and closed transition?
Open transition disconnects one source before connecting the other. Closed transition briefly parallels sources and requires additional controls, protection, and utility approval.
Can the ATS start the generator automatically?
Yes. The ATS or AMF controller can issue a start signal when the utility source is outside the approved limits and transfer after the generator source is stable.
Can the panel communicate with a building system?
Common protocols and dry-contact interfaces can be considered after the required data points, network method, and system responsibility are confirmed.
Can Kashifer quote from a load current only?
A preliminary selection may be possible, but the single-line, voltage, phase, fault level, transition type, enclosure location, and cable arrangement are needed for a controlled offer.
